A Capacity Building Programme On Tobacco Control For The Youths
A capacity building programme on Tobacco control for the youths was organized by VHAI-Aparajita on 31st January 2008 at OTDC, Panthanibas and which was attended by police commissioner Mr.Binaya Behera ,Director Health services Dr.Loknath Acharya and thirty students from different educational institutions. The sole motif behind organizing this workshop was to build the capacity, enhance the knowledge and skill of the youths and make them aware on social, economic and health impact of tobacco use, cigarette & other tobacco products act 2003, role of youths in tobacco control, and creation of a taskforce who will be proactively involved in this anti tobacco movement initiated by VHAI-Aparajita and take steps for a healthy and smoke free environment. During the workshop the students prepared a plan of action on the tobacco control activities to be taken up in their education institution. Some of them promised not to consume tobacco from now and also make aware their other friends on this deadly tobacco menace.
