After the success of Law Enforcement workshop the commissioner ate of police seemed to be intent on emulating the implementation of COTPA with sincerity. Saying that "charity begins at home" Commissioner of police Mr.Bijaya Kumar Sharma said that the commissionerate will take all possible measures to discourage the public as well as its own personnel from consuming tobacco in any form inside the premise by issuing a circular to all police stations for creation of tobacco free zones and removing tobacco shops to 100 yards distance from all education institutions. Display boards on "Smoking & Chewing tobacco here is an offence", "Smoke free Zone" have been put up in all the 42 police stations of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack .This initiative has been appreciated at all levels . The Times of India quoted this tobacco free zone in all police stations as a praiseworthy initiative of VHAI and now no more guilty puff for policemen. Rupees 200 will be fined for smoking inside the premise says the commissioner. The New Indian Express stated it as remarkable achievement of VHAI for successfully motivating the law enforcement officials for implementation of COTPA in the state and as an initial step the commissioner ate has stepped up efforts to set its own house in order. The statesman wrote that tougher rules on smoking and harsher enforcement to discourage the habit among the public as well as the law enforcers.
