Smoke free education Institution: Street play, Signage & Rally
Keeping view of the growing tobacco use among young and adolescents ,students of Institute of Media Studies organized a signature campaign and Rally on 22nd February 2008 to make the students as well as public aware on the ill effects of tobacco use. The Rally covered distance from Ram Mandir to Master Canteen Station Square. Slogans and Placards containing anti tobacco messages drew the attention of every passerby. The local media namely Doordarshan, OTV and ETV gave it a wide coverage to reach out to millions.
Being inspired by this, another educational institution namely Biju Pattnaik College of Social Work also organized a signature campaign, rally and street play on anti tobacco theme on 23rd February'2008. The purpose of the street play was to make the public aware on this deadly menace and how quitting can save them from hundred dangers. The students have also removed a pan shop to 100 yards away from their institution as a first step in implementation of Cigarette & other Tobacco Products Act 2003.
